Otherwise, The Babysitter: Killer Queen is a fantastic sequel and one of the best horror movies I’ve seen this year. Still it’s all good in this whacky neighborhood, and the only flaws I could find here were a few jokes that didn’t land and a bit of drag on the pace during the third act. The new players also keep the energy flowing, although I will admit they’re outshined by their predecessors. Plus so many cool songs to sing along too! Just because we’re dead, doesn’t mean we can’t still be hot ![]() Eighties movie love is sprayed all over the place so if you’re a fan of retro horror movies and music you’ll love how many nods to films like Friday the 13th, Deliverance, Sometimes They Come Back and The Evil Dead (just to name a few) pop up here. Their antics and acting had me grinning like a fool the entire runtime. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, it ups the blood and gore to gloriously awesome levels, and it keeps the pacing fast and tight.Īll of the actors from the first movie return and you can tell they are having an absolute blast with this sequel. When the past returns for a second attempt at finishing the blood ritual, Cole will finally have a chance to show everyone the truth.īabysitter 2 ticks all the boxes for making a successful slasher sequel (try saying that five times fast!). No one expects The Babysitter: Killer Queen to be anything other than your basic escapist entertainment, but it fails even at this modest goal. Taking place two years after the events in The Babysitter (2017), protagonist Cole is now in high school and no one believes him about what happened that fateful night when he learned his babysitter and her friends were in a satanic cult, and they tried to murder him. A new girl at school ( Jenna Ortega) accidentally stumbles into the chaos, and Cole has to summon the courage to save the day from the forces of evil yet again. Well, I’m happy as hell to report The Babysitter: Killer Queen most definitely fits in this category. It’s quick and it’s smart and it’s about sequels that were better than their predecessors. ![]() ![]() There’s a Terminator 2 reference (among many others) that comes up in this movie.
