RIVER seeks to revitalise and strengthen Indigenous approaches for the regeneration of Earth’s health, and to promote justice and healing for her people.Īt this incredible time in our shared global history, we work to regain our sense of connection to and responsibility for our common Mother and our beyond-human relatives (plants, animals, water, soil, air, ). We as RIVER are drawn together by a shared calling for healing reconnection-to ourselves, to our languages and heritage, to our responsibilities, and most of all to our common Mother: Earth. From many leverage points, we are creating space to evolve societal systems and grow international solidarity between peoples pushing for change in our various communities. Much has been lost and the impact of our colonisation is felt in the disconnection, addiction, poor health, education and criminal realities of our day. In the same breath, it is important to step away from romanticised realities of Indigenous approaches and state clearly: we too, are colonised peoples. A kin-centric approach shifts how we relate to the Earth and to each-other: instead of being land-owner with rights of resource extraction, we are child to Mother with responsibilities of care. Despite this expansive diversity, a commonality that many of us share is our understanding of connection to life on Earth as kin relatives, which means that our starting place to meet global crises is relational and intersectional. The diversity amongst Indigenous peoples’ and knowledge systems cannot be overstated - the multitude of Indigenous identities is incredibly wide-ranging. In this unprecedented time, when interconnected ecological, climate, and health crises threaten our collective survival, the world is increasingly looking to Indigenous peoples for solutions. We span generations and hold wide-ranging experience in the areas of law and governance, sustainable enterprise, cultural restoration, biodiversity conservation, Earth’s living systems, engineering, artistry, education, and design. Our collective is both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. I hope the weather remain OK and next weekend we can go again.Īnd if you are looking for Spearfishing Equipment visit our store.RIVER is an inter-Nation-al 1 circle of people collaborating to revitalise and strengthen Indigenous approaches for regenerative development of land, water and all life. Could be better? Talk some time and then go back home. I will upload the review in a few days.Īnd the best is that our friends are there, with a cold beer. The day was not bad and help me to be in a better shape for the season that is starting. On the way is a “carpet” of broken kelp and sometimes I found flat fish there. In the sand the same, no fish.Īt the end I take the spiders and go out. I start looking into holes but nothing at all. Now is only look for another good fish and take a couple spider crabs for the dinner. We talk about the day and go closer to the shore. We wouldn´t shot more fish if were to us but a friend was camping and asked me for a fish to do in the bbq so I can catch a couple more.Īnd Fernando arrives. We make an ambush over a rock and found it. A good shot from behind and have the first catch of the day. We wait a few to have a better shot and not hit the shaft in the rocks. I make a new dive and here it is in the same position. It´s very important in deep fishing with currents, when we can´t see the bottom. I can´t go there in the same dive so go up and anchor the buoy and don´t lose the point. Only groups of small ones, around 1kg.īut in a dive we can see some small ones and a bigger one a bit further. We find some pollocks but smaller than we expected. Being first month in the season and cold waters don´t make it easy but we are enjoying the day. The current is not strong today and we can stay good. When we leave the shore the bottom is sandy in 15-17m. The first walls close to the shore find no life so I start looking more depth. I don´t want to carry this weight all the time. I can see good spider crabs, but I will wait till the end of the day. The clear water was on the shore and the first layer. Not bad…įirst dives happen what I was thinking. No rain, no drizzle like the last dives.įirst look is perfect. The sun is perfect when we are wearing the wetsuits. Today I´m going to try the new computer Salvimar ratio IDive. No more delay and go to the car to prepare all the equipment. We wait some time talking to other friends who are camping there. And there are two buddies going into the sea. Lot of tourists and people camping, with bbq´s… The day is very good. We met there another friend who was waiting to meet him. No wind, sun and the temperature is perfect. We didn´t think it more and a friend decided to go. The water is still cold and the season is just starting but after a week like summer we must go. This weekend was very good weather so we did a new dive.
